The room is cooled by four Leibert air handling systems (two "DX", two use campus-supplied chilled water). They are, under no circumstances, to be manipulated by users of the machine room. These units are all maintained and centrally monitored by CSEhelp and Facilities Management. The room is cooled independently of the general building A/C.
Three of these units should be capable of supplying the room with adequate cooling, should one of the units be off-line for maintenance or failure. Should a partial cooling system failure occur, however, it may become necessary for CSE Computing Support staff to request machine room users to shut down and turn off any systems not being actively used. In the case of a complete cooling system failure, the room’s Emergency Power Off system may be actuated.
Scheduled outages may occur as required for maintenance of the cooling systems.
