CSE Outreach

CSE Outreach

CSE participates in K-12 outreach efforts, such as that UCSD COSMOS program, where CSE hosts two courses for the summer academic enrichment program. Approximately one third of participants in this programs are from underrepresented populations and many receive scholarships to attend courses and live on campus for this four-week program.

CSE supports youth in exploring computer science and STEM technologies, through scholarships for young women (7-17) to participate free of charge in one of the Summer Coding Camps for Kids at UC San Diego.

Taught by successful educations entrepreneur and UC San Diego Computer Science and Engineering Alumna Sarah Guthals, an innovative new course for computer science students builds the skills necessary to communicate their field to others through the experience of teaching K-12 students the fundamentals of coding in extracurricular settings in schools and libraries.
