Student Organizations

Our passion for diversity and inclusion is evident in our support of student organizations whose missions align with the goals of the department.

The undergraduate and graduate women in computing groups (WIC and GradWIC) strive to address the concerns of our student populations, especially women and underrepresented minorities, as well as build an inclusive community.

WIC and GradWIC host a variety ofsocial and professional events catered to the concerns of our students.

Both groups also provide opportunities for professional growth, such as full scholarships to attend the annual Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, where women have the opportunity to participate in a majority-female environment as well as network with major-company recruiters and academic affiliates.

CS foreach is the department's newest student organization, started in 2017. The group aims to increase access to Computer Science education among underserved communities of San Diego.

Students volunteer to teach introductory programming lessons at schools, libraries, and other locations across San Diego county, cultivating mentorship between UC San Diego and K-12 students.
