Updated: July 10th, 2024

Welcome to the CSE Summer Series webpage! We're excited to be bringing you a dynamic mix of resources from various campus offices this summer. In collaboration with the UCSD IDEA Center and Triton Transfer Hub, we're each offering a unique viewpoint on the best ways to maximize your time in summer and prepare for your upcoming year. Check out each office's contributions below and get ready for a productive school year!

While created with transfer students in mind, all UCSD students are welcome to attend and utilize these resources. You can also view the recorded webinars from our previous summer series at the bottom of this webpage - enjoy!

CSE - Summer Series Activities with a Prof:

All incoming FA24 transfer students will have the opportunity to work with Professor Joe Politz who teaches several lower division courses which you may end up taking!

As part of the CSE Summer Series, a free online summer program run by the department, Joe will be reaching out with regular emails, and providing a bunch of different resources such as:

  • A Discord chat server for saying hi and asking him (and each other) questions
  • A weekly activity (usually programming) for reviewing content useful for the upcoming year
  • Videos, readings, and websites related to (and in some cases straight from) our courses to help you prepare for the year
  • Reminders about summer events and opportunities

All the materials from these activities you have and will be receiving can be found here!

IDEA Center - Summer Transfer Prep:

Transfer Prep is a 4-day program held over the summer for incoming transfer engineering students. This FREE program provides incoming students with the opportunity to acclimate to campus life, build skills and habits necessary for success in engineering, and develop community amongst their peers before beginning their courses in the fall.

This free program provides incoming transfer engineering students an opportunity to interact and build community with peers and current engineering students who will serve as your mentors throughout the duration of the program. You will participate in academic and social activities that include connecting with faculty, staff and current students through workshops, small group discussions, and information sessions.

During Transfer Prep you have the option of staying on campus or commuting. If you choose to stay on campus you will spend three nights in UC San Diego housing with your fellow Transfer Prep participants and Transfer Prep Leaders, and all meals will be provided. If you commute, lunch, dinner, and parking will be provided.

Spots are limited, so make sure to apply!
