Three CSE undergraduates have been selected for prestigious fellowships by one of the top technology investment firms in the Bay Area. They are among 57 college students selected from roughly 2,500 applicants from over 200 universities nationwide to be part of the Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Beyers (KPCB) Fellows program for 2017.

The three-month KPCB Fellowship program offers top U.S. college students an opportunity to work at innovative Silicon Valley startups.

All three CSE students have previous internships at blue-chip tech firms on their resumes, and two of them have been CSE tutors.

Qiqi (Yunqi)  Wu is a head tutor for Rick Ord in CSE. The computer science junior is currently taking a quarter off to do an internship with Google at its New York office. But as recently as the Winter quarter, Wu was head tutor for Ord's course CSE 30 (Computer Organizations and System Programming). She also has tutored for CSE 11 (Introduction to Computer Science & Object Oriented Programming: Java).  Wu is also involved in Women in Computing (WiC).

CSE graduating senior Shivani Mall worked last fall as a CSE Tutor for the Design and Analysis of Algorithms course (CSE 101). Mall transferred from UC Riverside two years ago to finish her undergraduate degree at UC San Diego, and she is now finishing up her computer science degree (B.S. '17) and juggling a busy calendar going forward. In Mall's case, she has started working at AppDynamics while finishing her degree. At the same time, she has already lined up a full-time software engineering job with Salesforce. Mall is one of 11 Indian-American students named to the KPCB program this year.

The third UC San Diego student to make the KPCB Fellowship roster this year is Kareem Moussa. He expects to graduate next December (B.S. '17). Moussa is a member of the CSE Society and the Data Science Student Society. He is currently doing a software engineering internship at Apple in Cupertino, where he also did a summer internship in 2016.

The KPCB Fellowship program is focused on engineering and design, two major areas of interest for the Bay Area firm.
