CSE alumnus Tim Armandpour (BS '99) is now VP of Engineering at the Bay Area-based PagerDuty, according to an announcement from the company this week. The announcement said that Armandpour will be responsible for driving product development and scaling the engineering team of the company.

The alumnus posted on his LinkedIn account that he is now hiring for PagerDuty's San Francisco and Toronto offices. PagerDuty supplies a hub to track all of a company's operations, connecting people, systems and data in a single view. The "performance platform" aims to make businesses more reliable by "eliminating the noise and chaos across the entire operations lifecycle." PagerDuty is used by startups including Airbnb, GitHub and Etsy, and by roughly 100 other companies including Panasonic, Intuit, National Instruments and Adobe.

Since graduating from UC San Diego with a degree in computer science, Armandpour has held senior engineering positions at a series of startups, including Yodlee, SendMe and Zong, which at the time was the leading mobile payments provider for gaming and social networking companies. When the latter was acquired by PayPal, Armandpour assumed senior director positions in PayPal's Mobile Engineering and Consumer Engineering groups, and it's that experience in the high-growth mobile payment industry that PagerDuty believes will be useful in engineering the company's application as a critical software to deliver high availability and performance. Most recently, Armandpour was senior VP of engineering at another startup, YapStone.
