The UC San Diego Information Theory and Applications (ITA) Center has announced an exciting new initiative aimed at preparing outstanding researchers for academic careers in the field of Data Science. Co-sponsoring the Data Science Postdoctoral Fellowships with ITA are the departments of Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as Calit2's interdisciplinary Qualcomm Institute.
Extending far beyond a traditional postdoctoral program, the Data Science Fellows will enjoy the freedom to interact and collaborate with any of UC San Diego's distinguished faculty. They will be affiliated with CSE or ECE, where they will teach one data science-related class per year, and will be given a research budget and a faculty-type office.
Of the ITA Center's nine past postdocs, seven currently hold academic positions at major universities worldwide (including at UC San Diego, where Kamalika Chaudhuri is on the CSE faculty).
Five positions are available. Exceptional, self-motivated candidates with outstanding research records are encouraged to apply. Applications will be reviewed starting March 21st.
