HDSI: Project Scientist (non-tenured, Assistant, Associate or Full level)

Halicioğlu Data Science Institute (HDSI) is conducting an open search for a Project Scientist (non-tenured, Assistant, Associate, or Full level) in collaboration with the Augmented imaging and Data Analytics (AiDA) laboratory in the Department of Radiology. HDSI serves as a unique, collaborative, and innovative academic unit across multiple disciplines at UC San Diego. The Department of Radiology is a vibrant center of scientific discovery, innovation, and collaboration within the campus' School of Medicine.

At UC San Diego, Project Scientists are academic researchers who are expected to make significant and creative contributions to a research team but are not necessarily leaders of a research group. They are not required to carry out independent research or develop an independent research reputation but are expected to publish and conduct research or creative programs with supervision by a member of the Professor or Professional Research series. University and public service are encouraged, but not required. Project Scientists do not have formal teaching responsibilities.

The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team of investigators developing imaging technologies to improve diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease, infectious diseases, and cancer. The successful appointee is expected to carry out research and provide expertise at the intersection of the fields of computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), machine learning (ML), image analysis, deep learning, data science, modeling, and signal processing.

Appointment level is dependent on academic experience and scholarly achievements and duration is dependent on the length of the research project and availability of funding. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
