CSE167 - Computer Graphics (Formerly CSE 177)

Course Objectives: CSE 167 is a complete introductory computer graphics course. We will cover topics in both 2D and 3D graphics, from the point of view of both the user and the implementor of graphics packages.
Course Description: Representation and manipulation of pictorial data. Two-dimensional and three-dimensional transformations, curves, surfaces. Projection, illumination and shading models. Raster and vector graphic I/O devices; retained-mode and immediate-mode graphics software systems and applications.
Format: 3 hours of lecture per week, 6 hours of computer lab, and 3 hours of outside preparation.
Prerequisites: CSE 100, or Math 176.
Other restrictions: Majors only.
Example Textbook(s): Foley, van Dam, Feiner, and Hughes, Computer GraphicsPrinciples and Practice, 2nd ed.
Laboratory work: Programming assignments.
Offered: One quarter per year, normally in the Spring.
