Keys and Security

Obtaining Keys to Your Office/Lab

Keys may be issued upon hire via your Human Resources contact.  Keys for graduate students may be issued via the PhD Program Manager. Faculty, staff and graduate student office keys work on the lobby and stairwell doors. If you lose a key, please notify your HR contact or the PhD Program Manager in order to obtain a replacement.

General Security

Because of the 24-hour undergraduate computer labs in our building basement, the CSE building is accessible to CSE people and enrolled students at all times. The main entry doors to the building are locked to others weeknight evenings, and at all times on weekends and holidays. These access restrictions are not as secure as locking the entire building. Therefore, Faculty, Staff and students should remain diligent in ensuring that all CSE office, lab and common area doors are closed securely and locked when not in use, especially after regular work hours (8AM-4:30PM).

Keycard Locks

Conference rooms and common rooms may be accessible by using your UCSD ID card. CSE Faculty, Staff and Graduate students have access to the entrance doors and a handful of other rooms, including the small conference rooms. If your UCSD ID card is not working please email csehelp@cs.ucsd.edu.
